It’s that time of the year again—time to celebrate the 10th official Debt Review Awards!
Held in Johannesburg on October 20, 2023, the Debt Review Awards is a peer-reviewed process that acknowledges excellence in various categories among Payment Distribution Agents, Credit Providers, and Debt Counsellors. This event saw the participation of nearly 250 professionals from diverse industries such as banking, software development, and debt counselling, accompanied by their respective legal representatives and creditors. Noteworthy attendees included the National Credit Regulator and the National Consumer Tribunal.
Among the accolades bestowed, four of our clients stood out:
– CreditSmart : Ranked in the Top 5 in the “Large Debt Counselling Practice” category
– DebtSafe : Achieved Top 5 rankings in both the “National Debt Counselling Practice” and “Technology Adoption Award” categories
– Octogen : Secured the top spot in the “National Debt Counselling Practice” category
– DebtBusters : Emerged victorious in the “National + Debt Counselling Practice” category.
We are thrilled to witness our clients setting the benchmark in this captivating and crucial field. However, the excitement doesn’t stop there. Our very own Cornel Van Heerden also clinched the prestigious Nousheen Pore Award!
This accolade is bestowed upon an attorney or an individual working in the legal field. Much like Nousheen Pore, after whom the award is named, recipients embody mentorship, leadership, and exemplify individuals making a positive impact on the legal facets of debt review.
The award also holds a special significance as it celebrates the legacy of Nousheen Pore, a beacon in the debt industry and the in-house Legal Advisor at DebtBusters, who tragically left us earlier this year.
The Award recognises an individual who works anywhere within the legal side of the debt review process (excluding Magistrates, Judges and Clerks of the Court). The Award was decided based on industry nominations and a small panel of industry experts who reviewed the nominations vs criteria.
In her memory and to uphold the values she represented, VHT Attorneys has chosen to double the award prize. We will be donating R20,000.00 to a legal support charity and further offer 20 hours of complimentary legal support to the same organization in 2024.
